Well, as far as quizzes go, i guess it works.

But you're making it too difficult for people who don't listen to classical music frequently to answer correctly. The Answers should come as buttons, with multiple choices, except for an open-ended answer that might be wrong if i don't write the artist's name correctly (i wrote "wagner" without a capital W and didn't get the score because of that, see where i'm getting to?), it makes taking the quiz extremely time consuming and boring.

Next, try adding a bit more eye candy to the flash, if the quiz is about classical music, i don't understand why there's a background more suited to techno of the 80's and a black font that honestly clashes horrible with the background. Its legible, yes, but not pleasant to look at.

All in all, it just needs polishing. Also, try adding correct answers written by yourself with a short explanation of why, when and where, like when did X artist compose it with a bit of trivia, instead of "it was him did you get it right?".

Offer us something that we haven't seen before. :)

Gerontius responds:

Erm. You mark it yourself? It doesn't auto-mark.

Multiple choice would be too easy. They're all well know pieces.

The game is incredibly broken and unpolished.

WARNING: HARSH CRITIC AHEAD, DON'T READ IF YOU HAVE A FRAGILE EGO.

I've heard the excuse "but it was made in tgf2 what did you expect" before (not that you're using it) but really what kind of excuse is that? Anyway, this game is not finished, and that can be seen.

Fight controls are terrible, you basically glyde from left to right mashing all buttons only to see the enemy is sent flying OFF SCREEN, making you wait till he comes back within punching range only to be sent flying off the screen again.

There is absolutely no hit detection, you basically made it so when X character is at X position away from Y character and player presses an attacking button, the lifebar of the opponent will decrease. This is not correct hit detection for those games. Where are the hitboxes? Why does only ther enemy get sent flying away, but if you stay put the enemy will be placed behind you and attack you forever?

The lifebar's also another great offender, the decrease of life with each attack is so laughable you can't even bother, i mean add this with the fact that an enemy character is sent flying away from the screen and you got a game where you have to wait till the enemy comes back in, punch him to reduce his lifebar by little more than a pixel, then wait till he comes back in again.

When you defeat a character, he isn't sent flying to unconsciousness, he just stands there, striking a pose, and once i went back to the enemy selection list, i saw Stephen again, all of the other blocks were marked with a ?. What the hell do i have to do to unblock the rest of the enemies then? .-.

Graphical inconsistencies = Noob game. If you're using a style of (stolen) pixel art, then try to use the same kind of pixel art for all characters. I don't know where you got the ranma sprites from, but it's black and white and 12 bit in depth, while all of Scott Pilgrim's sprite are 16bit colored sprites, there's an excellent Ranma videogame for SNES that had much more similar sprites than those you used.

Overall, the game is simply NOT FUN, unpolished, and terribly broken.

Oh gee

God is such a dick. :(

GUYS. GUYS.

Chill the fuck out.

To play again, close and reopen the flash, when the kongregate logo shows up for the first time, click on it, then you can click on the play arrow and you'll be able to give it another go.

Jesus.

Whew!

I scored 3181298 feet before giving up.
This game is so fun, but gets a bit repetitive.

Seems that i'll have to keep the window open for the next hour to achieve the 5 hour milestone.

You just copied this from a tutorial.

You could have at least made new graphics instead of copying everything from the tutorial you made this with. (i know about it, is quite old)
Also, even copypasting the code you did it wrong, i ate a lot of yellow balls but the counter at the end said 0, care to explain why is this?

crayzrocker responds:

because i changed 99% of the code you dumbass!

Uh.

You wanted feedback, don't go labelling my review as useless just because it's not praise you don't deserve.
The graphics are really ugly and the character doesn't even have working sprites, it's only one frame for everything, jumping, moving and standing.

This has pot- No it doesn't, do it anew, this time work on the graphics, some backgrounds, try making a working sprite for the hero instead of 1) Using a static one and 2) using a premade one. Try making it yourself, is not hard.

At least the platformer code you probably copypasted and modified does work.

No.

Putting overvolumed low quality copyrighted music from some emo group won't make your flash less crappy.

First flash huh?

First question, you say it's your first attempt at flash, but YOU made this from scratch? Because i've seen that preloader style, and advertisements, and overall highscore system to be used in a game engine found online, if you used one of those then this is not a flash made entirely by you since the webpage already did most of the job for you. (This doesn't mean is not a great game, i actually liked it a lot!)

Please do tell me more information about the engine so i don't go labelling people here and there.

Now, if you did make this yourself from scratch then i must give you a warm applause, first movies/games to newgrounds should all be great like this one, nice use of the car movement AS and glow filter, is simple, to the point and difficult enhough to make me try it various times.

A bit of sound wouldn't hurt, but then again it didn't bother me that it was a mute game.

fp123 responds:

Hey, thanks for the rating and good review :)

The Advertisments and the Leaderboard were added using MochiAds, they pretty much dominate flash-based advertising as far as I can tell. The rest of it I made myself from scratch though - I've made games using GameMaker before, so I know the basic theory behind it. Flash AS still feels pretty alien to me, though. I was considering adding sound, but why have sound if it's going to be larger than the game itself? :P

Mi critica/My review

-+-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
-+-+-+-+-+
First of all, what you did good.
The code is well applied and it works.

Now, what's wrong and what can be done better.
- Grammar, it's "Vestuario" (clothing)
- Preloader, add one.
- Graphics, put some effort on it, even people who cannot draw can make something better.
- Change fps rate to 50, it goes too slow.
- Music or sound effects, add some.

Flash is delicious. You must agree! Have you tried such a thing? Have you? Is quite good, GOOD!
